Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine & Research (IIAMR, Bangalore) is approved by Government of Karnataka, affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and Recognised by Central Council of Indian Medicine - New Delhi, India.
IIAMR lies nestled amidst great scenic beauty within the Bangalore Palace Compound. Though within the city, it is away from the tenacious onslaughts of pollution and is still in pace with the modern urban life. Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine & Research has two Campuses
a) The city campus is a compact collection of eco friendly buildings with the royal splendor of the Maharaja's palace and is situated within the Bangalore palace.
b) The other campus is situated amongst one of the most beautiful landscapes and is 22 kms away from the city. The campus is about 30 acres forming an ideal backdrop for the quiet and effective study. Both enjoy good transport facilities.
COURSE OFFERED:
The institute offers bachelor degree course in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS). The course begins in November. The students must have scored at least 50% marks in their qualifying examination. The total intake is limited to fifty. There is no reservation of seat.

During 1996-97, the Trust established Ayurvedic Medical College in the name of "Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine & Research", with the motto of introducing the ancient and highly scientific, holistic method of Indian systems of medicine.

ELIGIBILITY:
The students should qualify by 10 & +2 (Science) with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and they should also be aged at least 17years as on October, of the year of admission.
DURATION:
The duration of this course is 5 & 1/2 years. This course includes three semesters. Every semester is of one and half year's duration. The students have to undergo one year of internship in any ayurvedic hospital.
ACCOMMODATION:
The institute provides separate hostel facilities for the male and female students.

OTHER FACILITIES:
The institute has a steam chamber, lab facilities, x-ray unit, an operation theatre, a well stocked library and computer centre in the Institute. There are various options for the students after completing the course. They can join central and state government services or set up their own ayurvedic clinic. The students of this college actively participate in various national and international seminars on ayurveda. They conduct rural health camps and child health care programs at various villages of Karnataka.
The institute also has a research centre where various types of ayurvedic medicines are prepared under the supervision of experts. The Institute included an out-patient department and 100-bed Hospital for the practical training of students. We have treated many chronic cases such as coronary heart problems, diabetes, skin disorders, allergies, psoriasis, gangrene, sinus and the like," says the principal Dr. Muralidhara. It has the following departments: Surgery, ENT, Diabetes, Pediatrics, Laboratory and Toxicology. They also provide snakebite treatment and well known leech treatment.

The college is backed by state of the art facilities, including a 250 bedded hospital, which offers treatments at the minimum costs. The college is being initiated as a part of our endeavour to make cost effective and healthy alternative medicine like Ayurveda, available for all. The college provides excellent training and research facilities with a herbal garden for the purpose. The college aims to promote Ayurveda at a global level.
